Prohibited Off Duty Employment

-        Employment for a person, firm, or corporation wherein the nature of the employment creates a high probability of a conflict of interest arising out of the employment. Such employment includes, but is not limited to

·         bonding companies

·         private detective

·         GO 86-08 Outside Employment 5 security agencies

·         investigative work for attorneys

·         insurance companies

·         collection agencies

·         body guard

·         escort service for transporting merchandise

·         adult entertainment establishments.

-        Employees are permitted to provide security work for an employer or establishment which, for its primary functions, sells, serves, or provides alcoholic beverages to its customers or guests. Employees are not permitted to work the door, check identification, pour, serve or entertain in such establishments.

-        Outside employment that is not in the best interest of the department, which will be determined by the chief of police, is also prohibited.
