Prohibited Extra-Duty Employment  

1.     Officers may not be hired for an event where they would be a private bodyguard or bouncer. 

2.     Officers may not be hired as process servers, bill collectors, bail bond agencies, repossession agents, or situations where they may be asked to use their police authority for non-criminal justice purposes. 

3.     Officers may not be hired as an investigator of any kind. 

4.     Officers may not provide security for private parties. 

5.     Officers may not be hired to provide law enforcement or security-related services for any employer or establishment whose primary business is the sale and/or service of alcoholic beverages, e.g., restaurants, bars, nightclubs, liquor stores, or comedy clubs.

6.     Officers may not be hired to provide law enforcement or security-related services for any employer or establishment whose primary business is towing or requires a taxi permit.  

7.     Officers may not be hired to work for the following: massage parlors, pawnshops, cannabis manufacture/sale establishments, or sex-oriented businesses. 

8.     Officers may not be hired for any business/event whose primary function is gambling, except for bingo fundraisers.
