Prohibited Off-Duty Employment*:

  • Requires any Sheriff’s Office employee to perform as a process server, repossessor, participant in eviction or bill collection or any other off-duty employment activity in which Sheriff’s Office authority may tend to be utilized to collect money or merchandise.
  • Assists in any manner in the case preparation for the defense in any criminal action or proceeding
  • Results in dual compensation. No deputy may receive compensation from the county and an off-duty employer for the same time period. It is the Deputy’s responsibility to ensure that he/she does not receive compensation from an off-duty employer and the county for the same time period.
  • Requires off-duty law enforcement employment outside the boundaries of Tuscaloosa County.
  • Requires performing tasks other than those of a law enforcement nature while in uniform.
  • Involves employment directly for, or on behalf of, an establishment that is licensed for or provides adult entertainment.
  • Involves the employment of a deputy in an establishment that the primary function is serving alcoholic beverages.
