
Prohibited Off Duty Employment:
Prohibited secondary employment includes any form of employment which may involve a potential or actual conflict of interest with the City, or when the nature of the work is considered detrimental
to the law enforcement profession or goals of the City, including, but not limited to the following:
a) Involves the employee's use of Department time, facilities, equipment or supplies, the use of the Department badge, uniform, prestige or influence for private gain or advantage.
b) Involves the employee's receipt or acceptance of any money or other consideration from anyone other than this department for the performance of an act that the employee, if not performing such act, would be required or expected to render in the regular course or hours of employment or as a part of the employee's duties as a member of this department.
c) Involves the performance of an act in other than the employee's capacity as a member of this department that may later be subject directly or indirectly to the control, inspection, review, audit or enforcement of any other employee of this department.
d) Involves time demands that would render performance of the employee's duties for this department below minimum standards or would render the employee unavailable for reasonably anticipated overtime assignments and other job-related demands that occur outside regular working hours.
e) Involves employment in any capacity that would interfere with an employee being called for emergency police duty or otherwise interferes with an employee's departmental responsibilities.
f) Involves employment, in any capacity, in or upon premises licensed as an adult business, massage parlor, tavern, club, retail liquor store, medical or retail marijuana business.
g) Involves employment as a process server, bill collector, or for any credit or collection agency, or in any capacity involving repossession of property or eviction from premises.
h) Involves employment at a bail bonding company, pawn shop, towing company, or any business licensed or regulated by the City of Commerce City.
i) Involves employment protecting management, employees, or property during a strike or labor dispute.
j) Involves employment for the purpose of personal protection or bodyguard services that are conditioned on the use or potential use of law enforcement authority.
k) Involves employment as a polygraph and/or computerized voice stress analysis (CVSA) examiner, except examinations conducted for law enforcement purposes.
l) Involves the sale, maintenance or response to burglar alarms or other alarm systems.
